Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, tourism, finance, retail, and professional services. Its hospitality industry is international, competitive, and active throughout the year, with many employers valuing English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and specialist culinary skills. Life is fast-paced and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, modern shopping districts, hiking trails, beaches, and a vibrant arts and nightlife scene. Housing is expensive, especially near Central and Kowloon, so many employees share accommodation or live in districts such as Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin, or Tung Chung. Foreign workers generally need a visa before starting employment; skilled professionals commonly use the General Employment Policy, while employers normally sponsor the application. A valid job offer, qualifications, experience, and proof of suitable remuneration are usually required. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking, and local registration promptly.
