Destination Guide

Spain’s main island job markets are in Mallorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Ibiza, with opportunities in tourism, technology, consulting, customer service, renewable energy and public administration. Palma, Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife have the strongest professional networks and transport links, while smaller islands offer a quieter lifestyle but fewer specialised roles. Island culture is social and relaxed, with local festivals, seafood, outdoor activities and a strong work-life balance. Housing can be expensive, especially in tourist areas, so securing accommodation before moving is advisable. EU and EEA citizens can live and work in Spain after registering locally. Non-EU applicants normally need a work or internship visa, appropriate study documentation and employer or educational sponsorship. Spanish is important for many client-facing positions, although English is valuable in international consulting. Flights and ferry connections link the islands with mainland Spain.
