Destination Guide

Spain’s main island job markets are in Mallorca, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Ibiza. Opportunities are strongest in tourism, hospitality, aviation, retail, healthcare, public services and construction, while technology and consulting roles are concentrated around Palma, Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, often with hybrid or remote arrangements. Island life offers a relaxed Mediterranean or subtropical climate, outdoor activities and strong local traditions. Costs vary considerably: Mallorca and Ibiza can be expensive, especially for housing, while parts of Gran Canaria and Tenerife may offer better value. Spanish is important for most local roles, although English and German are useful in tourism. EU and EEA citizens can work without a visa but must register locally. Non-EU nationals generally need a work permit or qualifying digital-nomad, highly qualified professional or residence visa before relocating. Check regional tax, housing and registration requirements before accepting an offer.
