Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in technology consulting, finance, cybersecurity, cloud computing, SAP, logistics and regional headquarters operations. English is widely used at work, and the culture is multicultural, efficient and professional, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, healthcare is high quality and the city is generally safe, though housing and daily expenses can be relatively high. Popular areas for newcomers include the city centre, Queenstown, Bishan, Tampines and the East Coast. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or another appropriate work pass; approval depends on salary, qualifications and prevailing government criteria. Relocation commonly involves arranging housing, banking, insurance and tax registration. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, but its food, parks, beaches and convenient regional travel make it attractive for international professionals.
