This internship is intended for an undergraduate or recent graduate studying engineering, preferably in industrial, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or a related discipline. Candidates are expected to have a sound understanding of engineering principles, basic data analysis, problem-solving ability, and good proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role may involve supporting production or process-improvement projects, collecting and analysing operational data, preparing reports, assisting with trials, and working with cross-functional teams. MAS Holdings will likely expect initiative, attention to detail, willingness to learn, professional communication, adaptability, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and confidentiality. Practical exposure to manufacturing, lean methods, CAD, or process improvement would be advantageous.
MAS Holdings is one of South Asia’s leading apparel and textile manufacturing groups, headquartered in Sri Lanka. The company designs, develops, and manufactures performance clothing, lingerie, sportswear, swimwear, and other apparel for globally recognised brands. MAS operates across several countries and is known for innovation, ethical manufacturing, sustainability, and advanced product development. Its business includes design studios, manufacturing facilities, supply-chain operations, and technology-driven solutions. The organisation places strong emphasis on employee development, collaboration, quality, and responsible business practices. An engineering intern may gain exposure to manufacturing systems, production processes, industrial engineering, automation, lean improvement, quality management, and factory operations. MAS is a major Sri Lankan employer and offers graduates opportunities to build careers in a highly international, fast-moving, and technically focused industry.
Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, healthcare, and professional services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones have the widest range of corporate and technical jobs, while Kandy, Galle, and other cities provide opportunities in tourism, education, and regional industries. The culture is welcoming and diverse, combining Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. Daily life is generally affordable, with excellent food, beaches, mountains, wildlife, and public transport, although traffic and service interruptions can occur. English is widely used in business, while Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by an employer; tourist status does not permit employment. Interns should confirm visa rules, accommodation, insurance, taxes, and relocation support with MAS and Sri Lankan authorities before travelling.
