Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers employment opportunities in apparel manufacturing, textiles, engineering, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, and shared services. Its workplace culture generally values teamwork, respect for seniority, punctuality, and relationship building, while English is widely used in professional settings. The lifestyle combines affordable living, tropical beaches, historic cities, tea-country scenery, wildlife, and a strong food and festival culture. Colombo is the main commercial center and usually has the widest range of professional services, while manufacturing roles may be based in regional industrial zones. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa arranged with employer support before starting work; requirements and approval conditions should be confirmed with Sri Lankan authorities. Relocating employees should budget for housing, transport, healthcare, insurance, and document legalization. Local salaries may be lower than in Western markets, but everyday expenses can also be comparatively modest.
