Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, safe and highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hotel jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Public transport is clean, reliable and affordable, while housing, dining and entertainment are convenient but relatively expensive. Employees should expect a fast-paced, service-focused lifestyle and year-round tropical heat with frequent rain. Foreign candidates generally need an employer-sponsored work pass. The Employment Pass is usually intended for qualifying professional roles, while the S Pass or Work Permit may apply depending on salary, qualifications and sector requirements. The employer normally submits the application. Before relocating, arrange a valid job offer, approved pass, accommodation, medical coverage and sufficient savings for the initial costs.
