Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers opportunities in hospitality, retail, finance, technology, logistics and professional services, with seasonal hotel and administrative jobs often available. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, family-oriented values and a fast-paced working style. Daily life is convenient but expensive, especially housing. Public transport is excellent, and residents enjoy diverse food, shopping, hiking, beaches and a lively arts scene. Foreign nationals generally need an approved work visa before starting employment; the employer normally supports the application, and eligibility depends on qualifications, salary and the role. Short-term temporary workers should confirm whether the position qualifies for sponsorship and whether a separate visa is required. New arrivals should budget for accommodation deposits, healthcare, transport and living costs. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and international workplaces.
