Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with major employment centers in Luzon, including Manila, and popular tourism hubs in Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and Mindanao. Hospitality jobs are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, cruise-related services, and tourism businesses, with stronger demand in Manila and established beach destinations. Filipino culture is friendly, family-oriented, and influenced by Malay, Spanish, American, and Asian traditions; English is widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed island communities, with generally affordable food, transport, and housing outside central Manila. Foreign employees usually need an appropriate work visa or permit sponsored or supported by their employer, while tourist entry does not authorize employment. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, banking, transport, local taxes, and typhoon-season considerations. Requirements and visa rules can change, so candidates should confirm details with Shangri-La and Philippine immigration authorities.
