Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic international city built around Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. It offers strong employment opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, logistics and professional services, with luxury hotels providing a particularly active market for experienced candidates. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, excellent dining and a fast-paced working environment. Public transport is efficient, while housing is expensive and often compact; living farther from Central can reduce costs. Salaries are usually quoted monthly, and employment benefits vary by employer. Foreign nationals normally require an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong company, with proof of qualifications, a confirmed offer and a role that cannot readily be filled locally. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, an identity card, banking and health coverage. Beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands provide an easy escape from the city.
