Company Info

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognised internationally for its hotels, resorts and distinctive Asian-inspired service. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Australia. Shangri-La hotels typically offer accommodation, restaurants, bars, banqueting, wellness facilities and extensive conference services. The company places strong emphasis on warm hospitality, personalised guest care, quality dining and colleague development. Its Australian operations, including Shangri-La Sydney, serve international travellers, corporate guests, local residents and event clients. Employees can expect a multicultural workplace, structured hotel procedures and opportunities to work across different departments and destinations. An Executive Chef would contribute directly to the hotel’s culinary identity, financial performance, food safety standards and overall guest satisfaction.

Destination Guide

Australia is a large island continent with opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and regional hospitality, particularly in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Cairns and coastal resort areas. The culture is generally informal, multicultural and outdoors-oriented, with a strong focus on work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from busy city living to beaches, national parks and remote communities. Living costs can be high, especially in Sydney and Melbourne, while regional locations may offer lower rents and staff accommodation. International applicants usually need an appropriate work visa, such as an employer-sponsored visa, skilled visa or eligible working holiday visa. Requirements depend on nationality, occupation, age and qualifications. Candidates should confirm visa rules through the Australian Department of Home Affairs and budget for flights, housing, health insurance, tax, transport and initial settlement costs before relocating.
