Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates offering strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, events, technology, and finance. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the main employment centres, while Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah also provide growing resort opportunities. The culture is multicultural and generally welcoming, with Islamic traditions influencing public behaviour, dress, and holidays. Lifestyle options range from beaches, shopping, and restaurants to desert activities and outdoor adventures. Most expatriates need employer-sponsored residence and work visas; employers commonly arrange the work permit, medical testing, Emirates ID, and residency processing. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave, flights, and gratuity in the contract. Living costs can be high, especially in Dubai, so salary and benefits should be assessed together.
