Job Description

The Commis – Japanese Cuisine supports the preparation and presentation of Japanese dishes under the direction of senior chefs. Typical requirements include culinary training or relevant kitchen experience, basic knowledge of Japanese ingredients and cooking methods, food-safety awareness, and the ability to follow recipes and portion standards. The candidate is expected to maintain cleanliness, organize ingredients, work efficiently during busy service, and follow Shangri-La’s hygiene and service standards. Teamwork, discipline, willingness to learn, physical stamina, and flexibility for shifts, weekends, and public holidays are important. Experience in a hotel or Japanese restaurant is advantageous, while a positive attitude and strong attention to detail are essential.
