Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers diverse opportunities in hotels, tourism, retail, finance, technology, events and international business. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences, and English is widely used in professional settings; Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable for customer-facing roles. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, extensive dining, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands. Housing is expensive, so accommodation and commuting costs should be considered when evaluating an offer. Foreign nationals normally need an approved employment visa before starting work, usually sponsored by the employer under the General Employment Policy. Applicants must show relevant qualifications or experience and a confirmed job offer. Employers often assist with visa documentation, but candidates should verify conditions directly with Hong Kong Immigration. Healthcare, taxation, contract terms and any service-charge arrangements should also be confirmed before relocating.
