Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, healthcare and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, dim sum, night markets and a highly efficient urban lifestyle. Housing can be expensive, but public transport is excellent and many people live in Kowloon or the New Territories while commuting to Hong Kong Island. The city provides abundant dining, hiking, beaches, islands and cultural attractions, although work schedules in hospitality can be demanding. Foreign nationals generally need an approved employment visa before starting work. The most common route is the General Employment Policy, requiring a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience, market-level salary and employer sponsorship; approval is not automatic. Employers often assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm visa terms, medical coverage, accommodation, working hours and relocation costs before accepting an offer.
