Job Description

The Service Manager – Front Office (Duty Manager) oversees daily front-office operations, guest arrivals and departures, room assignments, cashiering, concierge support, and service recovery. Strong English communication, leadership, problem-solving, guest-relations, and property-management-system skills are expected. Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group with hotels, resorts, and city properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The company is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, attentive personal service, and high-quality accommodation, dining, wellness, and event facilities. Shangri-La operates several Malaysian properties, including hotels and resorts in destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah, and Sarawak. Employees generally work in structured, multicultural environments with opportunities for operational training, career progression, and movement between departments or properties. The brand places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, professional presentation, teamwork, safety, and consistent service delivery. Duties and benefits vary by property, so candidates should confirm the exact hotel, working hours, accommodation arrangements, and employment package during recruitment.

Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island destination, with opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. Hospitality jobs are common in luxury hotels, beach resorts, restaurants, spas, and tourism businesses, particularly in major cities and resort areas. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous traditions, with English widely used in tourism workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal or island communities; food, public transport, healthcare, and general living costs are usually manageable, although Kuala Lumpur and popular resort areas are more expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or appropriate work permit before starting employment. The employer generally handles the application, while approval depends on nationality, qualifications, salary, and immigration rules. Candidates should verify visa eligibility, medical requirements, accommodation, transport, taxes, and relocation support before accepting an offer.
