Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology, healthcare and professional services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks, museums and nearby regional travel. Rent can be expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or live farther from the city centre. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. Secure a written offer before relocating and check pass eligibility, medical requirements, accommodation costs and insurance. Singapore is safe and convenient, although work expectations can be demanding and the climate is hot and humid year-round.
