Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, international city with a strong hospitality sector and opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, cruise services and events. Its culture blends Chinese traditions with global influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking and beaches, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, and the role must meet immigration requirements regarding qualifications, salary and market need. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating and confirm accommodation, medical coverage, meals, gratuity and working hours. Hong Kong’s subtropical climate is warm and humid, with hot summers and occasional typhoons. New arrivals should budget carefully and arrange local banking, identification and housing soon after arrival.
