Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, catering, tourism, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, reflected in its food, festivals and multilingual society. Life is clean, safe and highly connected, with efficient public transport, modern healthcare and abundant dining and shopping. Housing can be expensive, especially near central areas, so many workers rent shared apartments or live farther from the city centre. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and experience, with the Employment Pass and S Pass commonly used for skilled roles. Employers may assist with relocation, accommodation guidance and medical formalities, but applicants should confirm contract terms, pass approval and benefits before moving. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
