Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and retail. Hotel roles are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, the airport and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is generally safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, plentiful dining and diverse leisure activities. Housing can be expensive, especially near central areas, so newcomers often share apartments or live farther from the city centre. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and role. The employer usually submits the application, but approval is governed by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should confirm accommodation, insurance, taxes and relocation support before accepting an offer.
