In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates several well-known city hotels and island or coastal resorts, serving leisure travellers, business guests, families and international visitors. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers employment opportunities in resort housekeeping, food and beverage, front office, engineering, wellness and guest activities, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Sabah and coastal resort areas. Island life is generally relaxed, multicultural and community-focused, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals and daily life. Living costs vary: Langkawi and parts of Sabah can be more affordable than Kuala Lumpur, while imported goods may cost more on islands. Employees can enjoy beaches, diving, rainforest walks and local markets, but should expect humid weather and occasional monsoon disruption. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and must not begin work before approval. The employer usually guides medical checks, immigration paperwork and relocation arrangements. Bring suitable work clothes, medication and copies of qualifications, and confirm accommodation, transport, service charge and visa costs before accepting an offer.
