Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, with resort roles especially common on Langkawi and around Kota Kinabalu. Penang combines beaches, heritage streets and a lively food culture, while Langkawi offers a quieter island lifestyle, outdoor activities and a strong luxury-resort market. Malaysian culture is diverse, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in hotels. Living costs are generally moderate, although accommodation near major resorts can be expensive. International employees normally need an employment pass sponsored and arranged by the hiring company before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary and position. Employers may provide staff accommodation, meals, transport, medical benefits or relocation support, but these should be confirmed in the offer. New arrivals should budget for deposits, transport, local registration and adapting to a hot, humid climate.
