Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact coastal city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with numerous outlying islands. It offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, aviation, healthcare and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced work ethic. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods and nightlife to beaches, hiking trails and quiet islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Public transport is efficient, and English is widely used in business, although Cantonese is valuable for daily life. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, commonly assessed under the General Employment Policy; applications require qualifications, relevant experience and a confirmed job offer. Relocation costs and rent can be high, so candidates should clarify housing, medical cover, bonuses and visa support before accepting an offer.
